SolusIO Rescue mode for virtual servers released

Rescue mode for virtual servers feature released

We are proud to announce that we have released a new feature of SolusIO, Rescue mode for virtual servers. This feature is available in SolusIO 1.1.14469 version and older.

The SolusIO Rescue mode allows a user to boot a virtual server from Rescue ISO to fix kernel mismatches and corrupted file systems.

You can find release notes for each version in the documentation section. We suggest that you regularly visit the release notes to learn about updates.

How it works

By default, we provide our own Rescue ISO which is based on Ubuntu 20.04, but the SolusIO administrator can change the image to their own.

This operation is available on the Compute resource setting page in the Admin area.

A user or admin can find the Rescue mode feature in the rescue tab on the virtual server page of the user or admin areas.

Apply the Rescue mode by choosing “Boot from Rescue ISO” and reboot the virtual server.

After that, a user can connect to the virtual server by ssh via ssh keys or the password which were assigned for the virtual server. VNC console is also available. In case a password was forgotten, the root password resetting feature available in this mode as well.

A user can then easily mount a disk of the virtual server if needed.

To boot from the main virtual server disk just switch mode to “Boot from disk“ and reboot the virtual server.
